Avignonesi DaDi Toscana 2022 is a fruity and fluid red wine. On the nose, it stands out with an intense aroma of cinnamon and star anise, accompanied by notes of raspberry and currant. On the palate, it is juicy and lively, with pronounced flavors of sour cherries and black cherries, complemented by subtle floral hints. The finish is long, fresh, and delicately sweet, a result of its aging in amphorae. An energetic wine full of character.

About Avignonesi DaDi Toscana

It takes a great deal of clarity to leave a successful career, relocate to another country, and embark on a completely different life. This is precisely what Virginie Sayers did in 2007 when she left the courts of Belgium and immersed herself in the world of wine in the heart of Tuscany (Italy). It was then that she acquired Avignonesi, a historic vineyard located in Montepulciano that retains the name of its original owners and is renowned for its production of high-quality wines. This recognition has only grown as Sayers implemented significant changes in the management and philosophy of the winery, including the transition to biodynamic and organic viticulture.

Her commitment to the terroir is evident in Avignonesi DaDi Toscana, a wine that not only highlights the ecological cultivation of the vines but also its vinification in Tuscan terracotta amphorae. Hence the name Da-Di, a term derived from Chinese meaning earth/soil. This red wine is crafted from the region's star variety sangiovese, accompanied by other indigenous varieties such as cannaiolo, alicante, ciliegiolo, and mammolo. These vines, cultivated through biodynamic viticulture with a strong belief in organic products and homeopathic medicine, yield a pure reflection of the Tuscan terroir. In the winery, the grapes (10% whole cluster) ferment with native yeasts, and the wine then ages for 3 months in Tuscan terracotta amphorae. These vessels, crafted by local artisans, enhance the sense of place and authenticity in the wine.

Once she exchanged the city for the countryside, Virginie not only changed her life but also her way of thinking. This transformation is evident in this wine. With a holistic approach that views the estate as a complete living organism, Avignonesi DaDi Toscana emerges from a deep and respectful interaction with nature and the surrounding environment.
