Recommended programmes for wine lovers.

1- Mondovino: a close-up look at the wine industry.

Although this documentary was released in 2004, it is still totally relevant. Written and directed by sommelier, consultant and wine writer Jonathan Nossiter, it gives a global and critical analysis of wine production and distribution, which varies depending on the continent, tradition and company size.

2- Priorat: The revival of a small region.

David Fernández de Castro, screenwriter and director, released this documentary in 2016 to showcase the Priorat phenomenon. Alongside the protagonists, he tells the story of how an failing wine region was revived and turned into a world-leading producer.

3- Natural resistance: the natural wine revolution.

After the controversial and successful Mondovino, Nossiter returned in 2014 with a film exploring the latest trends in the wine industry through the experiences of 4 Italian winegrowers who are fierce champions of European natural wine.

4- Somm: Four aspiring master sommeliers.

Passing the prestigious Master Sommelier exam is a huge challenge, and the focus of this documentary directed by Jason Wise from 2012. A journey that starts by revealing the fears and desires of each of the candidates, and culminated in the examination at the end.

5- Barolo Boys: the history of a phenomenon.

This documentary film directed by Paola Casalis and Tiziano Gaia in 2014, tells the story of a group of young winemakers as they turn the Piedmont region of Langhe upside down and cause the explosion of a worldwide phenomenon: the Barolo Denomination of Origin.
