About Domaine Rolet Arbois Trousseau

For a long time, trousseau was regarded as a secondary variety, primarily used for table wines or blended with other grapes. However, in recent decades, a new generation of winemakers has begun to uncover its true potential, resulting in single-varietal trousseau wines that fully display its character and elegance.

One of the ventures strongly committed to this indigenous variety is Domaine Rolet, a winery founded in 1942 by Désiré Rolet and now considered one of the most iconic in Jura. In 1958, his four children took over, distributing roles within the domaine and thriving the business. In 2018, the property was acquired by three enthusiastic families, and since 2020, Christophe Flambert has held the position of manager, determined to continue the legacy built by the Rolet family, maintaining the same commitment to meticulousness and precision, and achieving a perfect balance between tradition and modernity.

The wine Domaine Rolet Arbois Trousseau perfectly embodies this philosophy. A genuine red wine from Jura, 100% trousseau, crafted from grapes sourced from the terroirs of Montigny-les-Arsures, in plots situated between 280 and 380 metres in altitude, with soils rich in iridescent marls and chaille clay. Every detail in the vineyard receives meticulous attention: the grapes are hand-harvested and cultivated using organic methods, ensuring the utmost expression of the terroir.

In the winery, after destemming with a small proportion of stems, the must ferments with indigenous yeasts and remains in maceration for 15 days. Subsequently, the wine rests for 10 months, primarily in foudres and oak barrels, with a small portion in stainless steel, achieving a delicate balance between structure, freshness, and aromatic expression.

Domaine Rolet Arbois Trousseau is a wine integrated into the AOC Arbois that embodies the essence of trousseau. Fresh, elegant, and authentic, it is a true gem of Jura that demonstrates how what was once considered "secondary" can become the absolute protagonist.
