About Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Ampodium

Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Ampodium is a Syrah variety red wine made by Domaine Rostaing in the AOC Côte Rôtie.

Domaine Rostaing wines have been made and sold since 1971 when René Rostaing joined the family wineries of his brother-in-law and his uncle, and established a philosophy based on seeking the maximum expression of the terroir. They currently produce a wide variety of wines from 20 plots located between Côte-Rôtie (Ampodium, Côte Blonde, La Landonne), Condrieu (La Bonnette) and Languedoc. These are limited and highly sought-after productions, making them difficult to come by.

Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Ampodium comes from a combination of 13 different terroirs with mostly granite sand soils and facing southwest. They always seek the maximum expression of the terroir and encourage low yields in the vineyard to prioritise the quality of the wines. The harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness, with each cluster manually selected.

Once the clusters reach the winery, they are separated on the selection table and mostly destemmed. The grapes used to make Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Ampodium macerate with their skins and ferment with native yeasts. Aging takes place in 600-litre barrels, 5% of which are made of new wood. Once the wine has been made, it is not filtered.

2017 Domaine Rostaing Côte-Rôtie Ampodium 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of cassis, sour cherries and plums. It reveals a background of liquorice and earth. On the palate it has high acidity and flavours of ripe black fruit.
