Garmón 2022 is a red wine that marries character and elegance with an alluring naturalness. With an intense purple hue, it hints at its youth while the red and black fruit is juicy and precise, almost tangible. On the palate, it is enveloping and harmonious, with abundant yet fine tannins, a silky texture, and a slightly dusty note that adds depth. It progresses long and balanced, with a sense of roundness that invites leisurely enjoyment, much like a conversation that extends when it is at its finest.

About Garmón

Garmón is a red wine produced in Ribera del Duero by Bodegas Continental in Olivares de Duero, Valladolid.

Bodegas Continental is the new winery by Mariano García (Vega-Sicília’s long-standing former oenologist and current co-owner of Aalto) and his children. Continuing their family project Mauro, they have built the winery within the D.O Ribera del Duero. They are focused on increasing the value of the old Tempranillo clones in the old vineyards, which represents a step towards the D.O’s traditional wines.

The vines that produce this wine come from the towns of La Aguilera, Moradillo and Baños de Valdearados. They are mainly settled on clay-lime and sandy-clay soils with yields of about 3000-4000 per hectare.

Garmón ferments and macerates for 14 days with native yeast at a temperature below 28ºC. When it has finished fermenting, it is decanted into French oak barrels where it ages for 16 months.

Garmón is a full-bodied wine, but without an excessive ripeness. It attempts to express the aromas and the texture of the wines that gave Ribera del Duero global fame.

Garmón 2021 is a wine that stands out for its robust character and aromatic complexity. This vintage introduces for the first time a 5% cabernet sauvignon in its blend, complementing the tempranillo variety, resulting in a wine that surprises with its maturity and presence on the palate. On the nose, clear oak notes are perceived, with spicy, toasted, and smoky aromas that invite an intense sensory experience. On the palate, its medium to full body unfolds with abundant and slightly dusty tannins, providing a rich and persistent texture. A red wine that elegantly and characterfully reflects its origin and will fully evolve with a bit of time.
