About Nicolas Chemarin Regnie La Haute Ronze

You have to have a compelling reason to stay in your hometown and make sure you are the only one of your generation who won’t leave. This was clear to Nicolas Chemarin when he started managing the vineyards on the family estate in the village of Marchampt (Beaujolais). 5 hectares of old vineyards planted on stony soil that, through biodynamic agriculture and minimal intervention winemaking, he has been able to use to produce wines with surprising depth, intensity and minerality. So much so that he has expanded his area of work to Régnié and Morgon and has become one of Beaujolais’ emerging winegrowers.

Nicolas Chemarin Regnie La Haute Ronze comes born from one of the plots that Nicolas cultivates in the AOC Régnié. These are old Gamay vineyards planted in deep clay soils and cultivated using only organic and biodynamic treatments. All the work is artisan and, once the grapes reach the winery, they are vinified spontaneously without adding any oenological products. The wine then stays in cement tanks for 6 months. Finally, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering.

The result is Nicolas Chemarin Regnie La Haute Ronze, a full-bodied AOC Régnié with a strong character that shows us how exciting new generation Beaujolais wines can be.

 

2018

Nicolas Chemarin Regnie La Haute Ronze 2018 is a smooth red wine with aromas of black fruits, accompanied by earthy notes and hints of leather. The palate is delicate, generous and full-bodied. A wine with bright acidity, integrated tannins and a long and pleasant finish.
