About Petrelli Salento

Renowned for its iconic historical cities, breathtaking beaches, and a wealth of history and culture, Puglia, in southern Italy, is an idyllic setting for vineyard cultivation. A region that was already basking in viticultural delights even before Greek colonization, Puglia has, in recent decades, undergone an oenological renaissance by championing indigenous grape varieties such as primitivo, a name signifying 'the original', indicating its status as the ancestral variety of the area. Known for yielding rustic, opulent, and lush wines, it has successfully spread to other parts of the globe, such as California, where it is known as zinfandel. An expert in cultivating this grape is Paolo Petrilli, a renowned organic producer and a profound connoisseur of the IGT Salento. Dedicated to every stage of production and maintaining the highest quality standards, his wines are the result of a profound connection with the land.

His flagship wine, Petrelli Salento, is derived from a unique vineyard cultivated with the primitivo grape variety. Organic farming practices are employed, and the harvest is manually conducted at the peak of ripeness. The grapes are promptly transported to the winery, refurbished in the year 2000, where they undergo careful selection, destemming, and crushing. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel and wooden vats at controlled temperatures using indigenous yeasts. Subsequently, the wine is matured on fine lees for 4 months.

Acclaimed for its exceptional agricultural land, Petrelli Salento is committed to capturing the finest flavors of northern Puglia. This commitment is exemplified in Petrelli Salento, a sterling introduction to this enchanting region nestled in the 'heel of Italy's boot'.
