About Tenuta Meraviglia Vermentino Bolgheri Botro dei Fichi

The Tenuta Meraviglia vineyards lie in a strategic location, the closest to the sea in the D.O.C. Bolgheri. The youngest member of the Italian Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards (ABFV) group is located here, on one of the longest stretches of the Tuscan coast where they manage to combine “sun, sea and wind in an atmosphere of elegance and informal style” in each of their wines. The Italian wine giant, which owns wineries in the best areas of northeastern Italy, has now set up camp on the volcanic and clay soils of the Bolgheri region to make Tenuta Meraviglia Botro dei Fichi.

Obviously, the location of Tenuta Meraviglia is what makes this place so special. This winery lies right on a terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 150 metres above sea level, where the Vermentino and Cabernet Franc plots are mixed. The uniqueness lies not just in the views, but also in the soil, which are mainly silty and clayey (of marine origin) mixed with lava rocks called Vulcanite of San Vicenzo, very similar to granite, which give the wines their mineral character. A very important detail to remember is the microclimate where these vineyards grow, bathed mainly by the sea breezes blowing in. The western exposure of the vineyards does the rest.

Following a manual harvesting and environmentally friendly and organic care, Vermentino Bolgheri DOC Botro dei Fichi ferments in raw cement tanks, using native yeasts, at a controlled temperature of 18°C. This process will take about 30 days. Tenuta Meraviglia Vermentino Bolgheri Botro dei Fichi then rests on fine lees for about three months.
